Rock Cup 2012/13: Gordon Sands loses the replay against Mike Groombridge following an initial draw (07/02/13) Cup holder Robert Marshall beats John Llewelyn. But what a battle it was, J Llewelyn played very well indeed and had an edge with R+N and strong pawn structure vs R Marshall's B +N and a central passed pawn. Well done John on becoming a very worthy semi finalist and on playing so well. R Marshall too, Rock Cup finalist. Gordon Sands lost the rematch to M Groombidge after initially drawing.

 

Bidgood Cup : Dave Wightman beats Helen Kirkby and so progresses to the Final. :Peter Nixon beats Steve Heath after an initial match 1 draw.

WDCL Trophy finals (03/05/2012) :

WDCL Pittaway Cup has been decided. The epic battle took place 03/05/12. 7 draws on from 7 boards but a board 8 default prroves decisive. Lichfield are not only league Champions but now 2012 WDCL Pittaway Cup Winners. West Bromwich a very close 2nd.

WDCL Humphreys Cup (U130) Halesowen knocked out 2010/11 winners Wolverhampton with a 0- 4 score in round 1. Halesowen are this years cup winners after beating Stourbridge 1 - 3.

WDCL Bidgood Cup: Gordon Sands (Wolverhampton) wins the WDCL Bidgood Cup 2012. John Llewelyn Runner up. Gordon Sands had an early Bye but 3 tough matches against Sandy Wilson followed and a tough final. Well done all and to John Llewellyn on making it to the final.

WDCL Rock Cup: We have a Winner! Congratulations to Robert Marshall (Wolverhampton) 2012 Rock Cup Winner. The final was played 26/04/2012. Frank Wood lost but was a worthy finalist after knocking out the current joint cup holder Dave Wightman.

Bidgood Cup Final: Gordon Sands wins the 2nd rematch against Sandy Wilson 29/03/2012 and so becomes the 2nd finalist. John Llewelyn (Hales) will play Gordon Sands (Wton). Note Gordon Sands statement "I would like to pay tribute to Sandy Wilson for three hard fought games. The first I was very fortunate to draw, the last I was lucky to win. Above all, I would like to thank Sandy and his wife for the hospitality they showed me at their home for the second game.

04/02/2012 Rock Cup Semi Final 2: Congratulations to Frank Wood on his victory against Dave Wightman in the Rock Cup Semi final 2.Rock Cup Semi Final Report by Dave Wightman Alas, current joint WDCL Rock Cup holder Dave Wightman didn't quite manage to progress to his 2nd league final in a week and be retaining the Rock Cup but a Wolverhampton player will gain the prestigious Rock as as they have two finalists.
