Div 3: Wolverhampton B lose away against Rushall C but win later in the week against Walsall Kipping B. A much awaited and anticipated clash between Stafford B and Brewood A prevailed. Week 9: Div 1 : St George's move from 4th to joint 1st after beating Halesowen. Kidderminster A excel against West Bromwich. In Div 2 Rugeley consolidate a just above mid table position with a draw. Kidderminster B draw with Rushall B. Div 3 : Walsall Kipping B beat Halesowen B. Div 4 : Walsall Kipping C increase their lead at the top of Div 4 after beating Lichfield C. Mercia B are 2 points behind the division leaders.

Week 8: Div 1 : Bushbury A concede their first defeat of the season in 8 matches to Walsall Kipping A and so move up to joint 3rd. Div 2: Mercia A beat bottom of the table Stourbridge B. continue their upward surge Stafford A continue their upward surge. Div 3: Halesowen B achieve an impressive win against 3rd place Brewood A. St George;'s B are on top and are promoted but champion status is still to be decided. In Div 4 Mercia B beat Wolverhampton C in a very close match. (25/02/2013 Paul W)

Week 7: Div 1 : Stafford A continue their upward surge, reach the pinacle at the top of Div 1 dislodging Bushbury A. However, Bushbury A have played fewer matches and are separated by just 1 point. St George's A are close to the top in 3rd. Div 2 Stourbridge A stretch out a lead at the top of Div 2. Wolverhampton A are currently 2nd and like Stourbridge lead by 4 points over 3rd place Mercia A.Div 3 : St George's B prance the top of Div 3 after an impressive away win against a strong Halesowen B. Stafford B and Brewood A are joint 2nd and 4 points behind the Division leaders. Div 4 Walsall Kipping C lead by 2 points, Wolverhampton C and Mercia B joint 2nd. Halesowen D and long time division leaders Bushbury C are in the upper part of the table.

Week 6: Div 2 : Wolverhampton A consolidate second place with a win at Rushall. Bushbury and Stourbridge second teams do battle, both were near the lower end of the table but Bushbury B prevail and climb up the table. Div 3 : St George's B move to the top after beating Brewood B and gaining a further two points by default. Stafford B seemed almost unshakeable at the top of Div 3. Next week Stafford's second team travel to Wolverhampton. A Stafford win would put them joint top but a win for Wolverhampton B would consolidate 3rd place. Div 4 : Wolverhampton C beat Halesowen D and Halesowen C draw against Walsall Kipping C.

Weeks 3: Div 1 : Stafford continue their winning ways and move to 2nd place. Halesowen move to mid table afte beating Lichfield. In Div 2 consolidate their position near the top of the table with a draw against Boldmere St Michael's B. Mercia A are poised in 3rd place after beating Bushbury B. Div 3 The current top 2 teams do battle and draw : Stafford B v St George's B. In Div 4 Mecia B beat Bushbury C. Halesowen C beat Lichfield C and Wolverhampton C draw at Halesowen.

Weeks 1 - 2: Div 1 : St George's surge upward with an impressive win against a strong Warley Quinborne side and displace Lichfield from 2nd to 3rd place. Walsall Kipping also are on the up after a slow start to the season, 2 wins against Shifnal & Telford and West Bromwich.

Div 3 : Wolverhampton B win against Brewood B in a close match, Brewood's bottom 2 boards win. Div 4 Walsall Kipping consolidate top stop and increase their lead with a 4 - 0 win against 2nd place Bushbury. A week later Wolverhampton C draw at Bushbury.

Week 49: Bushbury A remain at the top of Div 1 but Stafford A notch up another win and climb to joint 3rd with St George's A. In Div 2 Mercia A surge upward and a very close match between last season's relegated teams Stourbridge A and Wolverhampton A was decided after a board 1 adjournment draw, Stourbridge A prevailed by 0.5 points, have since beat Boldmere St Michael's B and now have edged above Wolverhampton A. Div 2 Stafford B are on top after a draw against Halesowen B and Wolverhampton B lose at St George's. Div 4 Walsall Kipping C are consistent and increase the leadd and position at the top of the table. Wolverhampton C win their first of the season against bottomplace Lichfield C.

Week 47 - 48: League Champions Lichfield had scored 4/4 and in recent years. Lichield and West Bromwich have tussled for supremacy at the top of Div 1. Week 48 Lichfield are beaten away at St George's and at home by Stafford. Stafford move upwards in Div 1 but LichfieLd are still in 2nd place just 1 point below an unbeaten Bushbury! In Div 2 Wolverhampton A and Stourbridge A are top and an early title clash occured 29/11/12. Stourbridge lead 2 - 3 with the top board adjourned. Div 3 : Brewood A move to the top with Stafford B close behind. Div 4 : Bushbury C and Walsall Kipping C are at the top of the table but will these teams stretch their lead? Warley Quinborne B and Mercia B are in the running and high in the table. (30/11/2012)

Week 46: Lichfield make it 4/4 in Div 1 and join Bushbury at the top of the table. In Div 2 Wolverhampton A and Stourbridge A are top. Wolverhampton also move up to 3rd in Div 3 1 point behind Brewood A and 2 points Division leaders Stafford. Div 4 Walsall Kipping are still top with Warley Quinborne close behind and Mercia in 3rd.

Week 44: Chess has seemed insignificant for a while and still is as my nephew passed away in tragic circumstances recently. But here's my attempt at a catch up update.

In Div 1 Bushbury stretch their lead at the top with 4/4. Div 2 tables show Wolverhampton and Stourbridge as top but Wolverhampton have another pending 2 points as they're 1 - 4 up against Boldmere as of 31/10/2012. Brewood A top Div 3 and in Div 4 Mercia C and Halesowen C are currently joint 1st.

Week 37 - 41: The tables are beginning to take shape. West Bromwich begin their se season with 2 wins. Rushall and Halesowen lose their first 2 matches but it's early days. In Div 2 last years relegated teams Stourbridge A are on top on 3/3 and Wolverhampton A are close behind on 2/2. Rugeley and Stourbridge B lose their first 2 matches including some against thos relegated teams. In Div 3 every team is on 2 points except for Rushall C who don't have any points yet. Walsall Kipping C top Div 4 with Warley Quinborne close behind. Mercia B and Wolverhampton C are mid table.

Week 36: The first results of the season are online, tables updates. In Div 2 Rugeley are beaten by Rushall B. In Div 3 Brewood A and Stourbridge A beat their lower teams. (12/09/12).

Week 18: Just one league to report this week. Div 1: Warley Quinborne continue their upward surge up the table with a 3.5 - 2.5 against a visiting Walsall Kipping A. So this result concludes the Winter League season. Please do check WDCL Trophy sections and full scores as three exciting WDCL Trophy have been played this week! Lichfield A are not only Div 1 Champions but Pittaway Cup Winners. Halesowen win the Humphreys Cup, Robert Marshall secures the Rock Cup and Gordon Sands triumphs in the Bidgood Cup final. Week 17: The WDCL Winter season is almost a close. Just 1 match to report for this week. Div 4 : Bushbury C miss out on the 2nd place promotion despite beating Warley Quinborne in their final match. Week 16: The Winter season is nearly over and we have the Summer league to look foward too! Anyway, WDCL Div 1 : Just 2 match this week. Wolverhampton lose at Warley Quinborne and the victors also beat Rushall A. Hence Warley Quinborne surge upward out of the relegation zone with their 7 points. Wolverhampton A were precariously hovering above the relegation zone cover the displacement left behind in the relegation zone. So, Stourbridge A and Wolverhampton A now occupy the relegation zone. Week 15: Slightly delayed update this week as I've attended the Staffordshire Congress this weekend, 2 days of chess, chess, chess. A fantastic well attended weekend of Chess. Div 1 : Wolverhampton A and beaten 4 - 2 at Warley Quinborne but the 2 points may prove to be invaluable in the boards points scramble at the lower end of Div 1. 2nd place West Bromwich are beaten by Stafford A. Div 2 Shifnal & Telford consolidate 2nd place with a win against Rugeley who still finish the season in 3rd place. Bushbury B are beaten by Boldmere St Michael's A. Week 14 Easter Sunday Update:  The penultimate week of WDCL Winter league season matches. Div 3 matches have been completed. Just 5 matches remain in Div 1 including Warley Quinborne A v Walsall Kipping A (05/04/2012). 1 match to play in Div 4. 2 matches in Div 2. Some promotion, relegation places are clear at this stage but not all. A Note: Lichfield are Champions of Div 1 and 3 this year but also become Withnall Cup (U120) Finalists after beating Meir 5 - 0! Congratulations. Please refer to County Section. Anyway back to the WDCL Easter writeup. In Div 1 Stafford A move upwards and clear the relegation zone with 7 points after a win at Kidderminster. Stourbridge A are in the relegation zone on 5 points, Warley Quinborne A have fewer points but have three matches remaining, including one against Wolverhampton A who are now ominously hovering just above the relegation zone.  Div 2:  Mercia A notch up two impressive wins and their 11 points elevates them to the upper half of the table just below 3rd placed Rugeley.   Shifnal &Telford consolidate 2nd place with a Boldmere St Michael’s A win.  Halesowen B remain bottom despite winning their final match of the season against Bushbury B.   It seems  Halesowen B and Walsall Kipping B will be in Div 3 next season.  Lichfield B and Stourbridge B are promoted from Div 3 to 2.  Halesowen A & Shifnal & Telford will be promoted back to Div 1 after being relegated last year.  Stafford B and Mercia B face relegation and Rushall C gain promotion from Div 4 to 3.  2nd place runner up is yet to be decided but Walsall Kipping C seem likely candidates as they sit just above Bushbury C.   Just 8 matches remain outstanding.  WDCL Trophy finals are yet to be decided too.  Results, scores, full scores and tables update 08/04/2012. Week 13: What a great sunny week, the winter league sun has almost set. In Div 1: A titantic much awaiting clash between West Bromwich and Lichfield A took place. These teams have been top of the division for an entire season and have swapped from 1st to 2nd place like a yo yo. Lichfield A triumph on Monday at West Bromwich and gained a 1 point lead over West Bromwich. Lichfield A beat Warley Quinborne A on Thursday;. 2 wins and 4 points leapfrogs Lichfield A to become League Champions with 18 points. West Bromwich have 1 match remaining but the theoretical maximum they can achieve is 17 points and a very respectable 2nd place. At the opposite end of the table Stourbridge A draw with Stafford A but still remain in the cluster of teams associated with probable relegation. Div 2: Boldmere St Michael's B beat Rushall B. Div 3 Stourbridge B travel to St George's B. Stourbridge B prevail and thus move to 2nd above Brewood A. Lichfield B are top and hence at this late stage it's looking like Brewood will still have 2 teams in Div 3. In Div 4 Walsall Kipping C storm up the table to 2nd place with a victory against Warley Quinborne B. Rushall C are on top. Results, scores, full scores and tables update 31/03/2012. Week 12: A week of suspense and surprises. Div 1: Rushall A beat Kidderminster A and are just 2 points behind Walsall Kipping A with 1 match remaining, Div 2: Halesowen A beat Mercia A and extend their lead at the top. In Div 3 Wolverhampton B had a glimmer of hope sitting in joint 2nd place with Stourbridge B and 1 point above Brewood A. A home win against Brewood B would yield 14 points and 2nd place. But it wasn't to be. The catapult was a very powerful one as Brewood B surge upward again, last week St George's B lost at home to Brewood B and this week it was Wolverhampton B who lost 1 - 4 despite outgrading Brewood B from 4 to 32 points on 3 boards. On Tuesday Brewood A beat Stourbridge B and so climb to 2nd place. Stourbridge B travel to St George's B and are just 1 point behind Brewood A. This match will decide 2nd place. Div 4 : Rushall C consolidate at top of the division with a win over Halesowen C and Warley Quinborne B beat Mercia C. League positions are beginning to crystalise and there are already theoretical champions. Stay tuned and watch this space for week 13 updates!

Week 11: In Div 1 Walsall Kipping A beat Bushbury A and consolidate 4rth place 1 point behind Bushbury A. Div 2 Shifnal & Telford beat Halesowen B and thus occupy 2nd place, Rugeley move from 2nd to 3rd in table. Bushbury B beat Boldmere St Michael's B. In Div 3 Stafford B lose 2 - 3 to Wolverhampton B. Wolverhampton B move up to 2nd place with Stourbridge B who have 2 matches remaining. Brewood A are 3rd just 1 point behind Stourbridge B and Wolverhampton B. Last week bottom place Brewood B notched up a great away win at St George's. This week St George's B visit and beat Brewood A. Impressive result and that deprives Brewood A of points with just 1 match remaining. Lichfield B have a comfortable 4 point lead at the top of the table. In Div 4 on the same night Wolverhampton B are in action their C team default against Bushbury B.

Week 10: In Div 1 Rushall A beat Stafford A and surge several  places upward just above a batch of teams all on 6 points.  Stafford A are in the relegation zone with 3 matches still to play.   Div 2:  It seems so long since Shifnal & Telford played a match and they've moved clubs again this week.  Well, Shifnal & Telford beat Bushbury B,  1.5 -4.5 in a show of strength but no movement in table despite  two league points being gained.  With 3 matches remaining Shifnal & Telford are the only team in Div 2 who can theoretically equal Halesowen A’s league points.    Rugeley have had the lime light for a couple of weeks, storming up the table to 2nd and amassing a crop of points but in week 10 Rugeley lose 0.5 - 5.5 to Division leaders Halesowen A.  Indeed,  Halesowen A and Shifnal & Telford may be on a mission to return to Division 1 and Rugeley may struggle in the maelstrom at the top of the table as last year’s Div 1 teams try to return to the top flight.
Div 3 :  Brewood B Had only won 1 match from 8 all season and have been in relegation zone for many months.  However, Brewood B achieve an impressive 1.5 -3.5 away win against mid table St George's B.  Stourbridge B move up 2nd place after beating Stafford B 4 -1. Brewood A move from 2nd to 3rd.  Next Week Wolverhampton B play Stafford B who are now in the relegation zone after swapping places with Brewood B.
In Div 4 Warley Quinborne B beat bottom place Mercia C.  Arthur Jancis draws on board 1 and increases an impressive     tally this season for Mercia. Stay tuned for week 11 update!

Week 9: Not much movement in the tables, mainly consolidations. Div 1 Bushbury A benefit from a Kidderminster A match default.  In Div 2 Rugeley went joint top after their (28/02/12) victory against Walsall Kipping B.   Last week they were in 2nd place on board points but establish firmer roots just 2 points behind Division leaders Halesowen A who boosted their tally by 4 in week 9 with 2 wins against Kidderminster B (29/02/12) and Bushbury B.  Actually, the top 2 teams both secure 5 - 1 wins. and  1 - 5 wins respectively. Div 3: Brewood A lose to almost runaway leaders Lichfield B and Mercia B are beaten by Wolverhampton B.   Div 4 a similar pattern with division leaders Rushall C beating Walsall Kipping C and Bushbury C draw with Halesowen C. At week 9 the probable relegation and promotion places are obvious but the season is not over yet, battles are still pending and probability often differs from possibility! Week 8: Div 1 : Kidderminster A draw with St George's A.
Most of the action this week is from Div 2. Big news, Rugeley beat Halesowen B and thus equal the league
points of Halesowen A and Shifnal & Telford. In fact, Rugeley
are in 2nd place on board points. Great performance to be so near the top of the table in their first season in Div 2. Bushbury B were in the relegation zone but swap positions as
they beat Walsall Kipping B.

In Div 4 Walsall Kipping C move into 2nd place and are just 1 point behind Division leaders Rushall C.
Wolverhampton C move down to 3rd in table with just 1 match to play against Bushbury C.

Week 7: A lot of activity In Div 1, West Bromwich are back on top, Lichfield A close second. Stafford A achieve an impressive home win against Walsall Kipping A but Walsall beat Rushall A and consolidate the position near the top end of the table. Stourbridge A beat Warley Quinborne A and move slightly above the relegation zone on board points but only have 1 more match to play, In Div 3 Brewood B have been in the relegation zone for most of the season but beat Stafford B Away despite some considerable grading differences. Lichfield B stretch out a lead at the top of Div 3 after beating St George's B. Latest results added and tables updated 19/02/2012

Week 6: In Div 1 Lichfield A return to the top as Stourbridge A default a whole match and enter the relegation zone.. Bushbury A move up the table and Warley Quinborne move out of the relegation zone due to drawing with Kidderminster A. Rushall A beat St George's A and Stafford A lose at Bushbury. Walsall Kipping B draw with Kidderminster B in Div 2. In Div 3 Brewood A visit Wolverhampton and prove to be promotion contenders amonst the top after a 2 - 3.win.

Week 5: Div 1: West Bromwich on top of division as they beat Walsall Kipping. Last weeks division leaders Lichfield in close second. In Div 2 Shifnal & Telford ssurge upwards in the table after beating Rushall B. Lichfield B consolidate position at top of Div 3 after beating Brewood B. Rushall C are top of Div 4.

Wolverhampton gain a point by drawing with Walsall Kipping and 2 more points from a conceded match. Lichfield continue the cat and mouse game as they go back top of the division.Div 3: Stourbridge B beat Brewood B. Actually Lichfield B are top of Div 3 too after beating Mercia B. In Div 4 Rushall C notch up impessive wins and are on top of Div 4 a full 2 points ahead of 2nd place Bushbury C.

Week 4: Div 1: Wolverhampton gain a point by drawing with Walsall Kipping and 2 more points from a conceded match. Week 3: West Bromwich back to the top of Div 1 after an Away win at Rushall. Rugeley rocket upward in Div 2 after beating Boldmere St Micheal's B. Wolverhampton B increase their tally to 8 points after beating St George's B. Wolverhampton C also move up the table in Div 4 after beating Mercia C but this proves relative as Rushall C beat Lichfield 0-4. In fact Rushall C are joint top of Div 4 with equal league points from fewer matches. Stay tuned for next weeks update.

Week 50 Exciting developments and two updates in a week. Div 1, Wolverhampton v Bushbury is concluded. Div 3 Lichfield B beat Wolverhampton B. Bushbury A beat Rushall A and so surge upwards in Div 1 to 3rd place. Lichfield A beat Walsall Kipping A and so jump to the top of Div 1 with 10 points. Walsall Kipping in 4rth place but having played fewer matches than some of the teams above them. The big movers in Div 1 Lichfield and Bushbury. In Div 3 Lichfield begin an upward surge. Week 49 Div 1, Kidderminster A beat Stourbridge A make a giant leap up the table with 4 points and 14 board points. Lichfield beat Bushbury and move to near top of table alongside West Bromwich. Walsall Kipping in close 3rd but have played fewer matches. Rushall B edge into 2nd place in Div 2. Rugeley consolidate their position near the top end o f the table with a draw against Boldmere St Michael's A. Matches added. WDCL tables updated (11/12/2011).

Week 47 A quiet week with just league fixture results added. A lot of WDCL Trophy event activity.
