About this Website

The domain name www.wdclchess.org.uk became operational as of May 27 2011.

Intuitive navigational menus are incorporated with comprehensive WDCL content and a new games section. Summer and Dudley league sections aren't hosted on this WDCL website but can be accessed via onsite links.

The old WDCL website was an excellent, popular, invaluable resource and reference point for many years. A tribute to the previous WDCL webmaster Mike Rees.

We hope this new website will be as popular, successful and in time as valuable as our predecessor's. With support from WDCL and its members we can build a new website for the future.

We'd like to thank the WDCL league and its members for appointing us as joint webmasters and granting us the privelige and opportunity to build this new WDCL website. Yours Sincerely your new joint webmasters Paul Walters and Andrew McCumiskey.

Week 15: Div 1 : Relegations are decides but not the top places. Bushbury could theoretically become champions and push St George's to 2nd spot if they prevail against Lichfield and the score currently stands at 1.5 - 1.5. Div 2 : just 1 match remains. Div 3 : Brewood A draw with St George's A and consolidate 2nd place behind St George's Div 4 : Walsall Kipping maintain their consistency and consolidate their championship status.

Week 14: Div 1 : Rushall A default against Warley Quinborne draw with Shifnal & Telford and gain 2 points from a Rushall match default. Div 3: Wolverhampton B finish their seasonm in 3rd after beating Stafford B but begin the match with a 2 point advantage due to 2 defaults. Div 4: Walsall Kipping C complete the season in style, undefeated and Champions after final match victory. Halesowen D finish high in the table after drawing against Bushbury C.

Week 12: Div 1 : Bushbury move back to the top of the table after beating Stafford and gaining a default in against Warley Quinborne. Rushall default against Halesowen A. In Div 2 Rugeley improve the table position again and move to 4rth after drawing with Kidderminster B. Stourbridge A remain undefeated all season consolidate at the top with maximum points after beating 3rd place Mercia A. 2nd place Wolverhampton A who have only lost to Stourbridge A this season secure promotion after beating Boldmere St Michael's A. In Div 4 Halesowen C beat Mercia C. (23/03/2013)

Week 11: Div 1 : St George's stretch a lead at the top with a 0.5 - 5.5 win against Rushall A. Walsall Kipping in 2nd then Stafford but unofficially from looking at the Stafford website, Bushbury have 3.5 points against Stafford, if correct then long time division leaders will move to 2nd, just 1 point behind behind St George's. Div 2: A lot of action this week. Wolverhampton consolidate that 2nd place promotion spot after beat Kidderminster B but theoretically haven't achieved promotion yet. Wolverhampton play Boldmere St Michael's A next week. Kidderminster dislodge th anchor and move from the bottom with a win over Boldmere St Michael's B. Stourbridge A beat Lichfield B in a close match and finally it's been such a long time since Rugeley were mentioned but their impressive 1 - 5 win deserves a mention and the win moves Rugeley up to 4rth, just behind 3rd place Mercia A. Div 3: Wolverhampton B lose away against Rushall C but win later in the week against Walsall Kipping B. A much awaited and anticipated clash between Stafford B and Brewood A prevailed. Brewood A revailed and so move to 2nd behind St George's B. Div 4 : Bushbury C draw with Halesowen D. (Paul W 18/03/2013)

Week 10: Div 1 : Walsall Kipping move up to 2nd in the middle and one of 3 teams who have 12 points at the top of Div 1. Lichfield move to 4rth after beating West Bromwich who end their season with 7 points in a mid table position. In Div 2 Boldmere St Michael's B draw with Bushbury B but Boldmere A move upwards after beating Rushall B. Kidderminster B dislodge themselves from the bottom of Div 2 after drawing with Lichfield B. Wolverhampton A consolidate 2nd and move ever closer to promotion after Stourbridge B default. In Div 3 well in week 8 Brewood A were beaten by Halesowen B but in week 10 Brewood B beat Halesowen B Away. Very impressive win for Brewood B considering grading differences. In Div 4 Mercia B equal Walsall Kipping points total at the top of table after beating Warley Quinborne B. (Paul W 11/03/2013)

Cyber-Chess

Very Exciting news: NEW Chess training website for kids. Wolverhampton Chess Club member Peter Pearson Jones has constructed a fantastic new Chess teaching/ training website. The site offers a basic chess teaching program to help the non-player to become a reasonable chess player in a number of lessons. It also provides Teachers with instructions how to set up a chess Club and to teach pupils to enjoy playing chess. The beginners section is currently operational but in the coming months the site will expand to include a wide range of chess training; from the basics to advanced stage. The new site has already received acclaim in the form of sterling reviews in the Times Educational supplement. Well done to Peter Pearson Jones. (Site is still subject to some development and addition of further sections). Preview www.cyber-chess.co.uk here.
