Clive Henry Cook 1966

The death of Clive Cook has left us all numb with shock. He was extremely well known throughout Wolverhampton League as a strong player and a genial opponent.

I knew him in his schooldays and then later in the local chess area. He invariably had a witty comment on his lips and to be in his company was always a pleasure. He played for both the County first and second teams on occasion. He was a massive and solid player who reminded me of the Russian Smyslov both for his style and his build.

He will be sadly missed at all the Chess gatherings he used to grace by his presence.
