Thomas J. Hollington 1913-2012

It has been brought to my attention that a former member of Walsall Kipping, Tom Hollington passed away some 3 months ago in a care home in Cornwall. Tom was 99 years of age and had retired to Cornwall some time ago.

Tom was a member of Kipping for a good number of years and was a member of the first team who won the league championship 3 years in succession in the 1950's.

Those who remember Tom will no doubt recall many stories about him. My one memory was when at an AGM one year he complained that there was insufficient sugar in the cups of tea that were provided on match days. He also on many occasions reminded us of the time the first team hitched a lift on the back of a lorry to play a match in Wolverhampton against Wolverhampton Kipping.

Tom was certainly one on his own a real character.
