Shropshire Megafinal 2024
Entries are now open for the annual 2024 Shropshire Megafinal, your regional junior chess tournament, and the 2nd stage of the UK Chess Challenge. Your route to qualify for the prestigious Gigafinals where players will then have the chance to reach the finals at Blenheim Palace! This tournament is open to all chess-playing juniors of any ability.
The tournament will be held at Charlton School in Wellington on Sunday 2nd June.
Your child will compete against other kids their own age in one of 5 sections:
U8’s
U10’s
U12’s
U14’s
U18’s
Your child will be guaranteed either a trophy, medal or certificate on the day. Girls will play in a mixed section but there will be seperate trophies for top boy and top girl.
Live commentary of the top boards in each section will be provided by top local players including (we hope) FIDE master Jonathan Blackburn!
And what about the parents? Home-made cakes and light snacks along with tea’s and coffees will be available to purchase throughout the day.

Round 1 10am-11am
Round 2 11am-12pm

Lunch
Round 4 2pm-3pm
